Farmers Market This Summer at Bridgeport

Bridgeport Suffolk will host a Farmers Market this summer starting June 13th, 2021. Bridgeport organizers plan to hold the market every second and fourth Sunday, rain or shine, in the Bridgeport plaza between the 1400 and 1500 buildings on Bridgeport Way.

Plans for this North Suffolk market have been in the works since the build out of the development. Unfortunately, the grand opening of Bridgeport coincided closely with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and all event planning was pushed to the back burner for the safety of the public and residents. As the CDC has phased out restrictions, Event Planner, Casey Mazzola has spearheaded the market just in time for the summer months.

“Our journey to get our farmers market set up has been a long time coming,” said Mazzola. “I know for residents and the greater Suffolk community; it was definitely disappointing to have this plan continually thwarted by the unknowns of this pandemic. That being said, we knew as soon as restrictions started letting up, we needed to fulfill our promise to be a community, Centered Around You.”

With support from the Suffolk Tourism Division, the planning for Bridgeport’s market was expedited so they could kick off their market in June. The City of Suffolk currently hosts a separate market in downtown Suffolk on Saturday’s.

The 2021 market schedule will be split into seasonal blocks with the summer market spanning eight Sundays, the fall market spanning three and the winter covering two Sundays. The deadline for vendors to sign up for the summer market block is June 7.

“We are so excited to bring our market to the North Suffolk corridor and to showcase the talented vendors who sign up,” said Mazzola. “A big part of our planning was to schedule our market on a day when there wasn’t a competing event so we could ensure vendors wouldn’t miss out on other opportunities.”

The summer market signup requires a $50 participation fee, the fall market is $20, and the winter requires a $15 participation fee.
